Abraham takes aim on GIII Illinois Derby

Abraham Lincoln our 16th president was born in Kentucky and had many victories in Illinois. How fitting would it be for a Kentucky bred horse named Abraham to capture his first Graded Stakes win in the state of Illinois?!

That is just what he will try to accomplish on Saturday, April 20th in the GIII Illinois Derby at Hawthorne. The race is for 3-year-olds going 1-1/8th miles. He has drawn post 8 of 14 horses and will be ridden by Javier Castellano. The purse is $750,000 and the estimated post time is 5:15PM.

Abraham is now graded- stakes placed with only three races under his belt now and lifetime earnings of $130,000. He ran third last month in the GII Sunland Derby after winning his debut at Gulfstream with ease three weeks prior.

He has shown a lot of talent in the morning time against his elite stable mates all winter long and has been the “Dark Horse” quietly making his way to the top. Should he win this race he will be making some noise!
