Neat, who won the Bob Bork Texas Turf Mile last month at Sam Houston, is pointing to an upcoming stakes at his base of Fair Grounds.
Trainer Rob Atras said Neat is on deck for the $75,000 Black Gold for 3-year-olds at an “about” distance of 1 1/16 miles on turf March 2.
Neat was a 5 1/2-length winner of the Texas Turf Mile and earned a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 84.
“We were really happy with him,” Atras said. “He really came out of the race good. We’re hoping he can keep getting better. He’s kind of an exciting horse to have this time of year. He’s really well-bred and he’s growing and he seems to havecome out of his race with confidence.”
Neat is a son of Constitution and a half-brother to Louder Than Bombs, a stakes winner of more than $250,000.
